Hey guys! It is Aiko with Schwagirl. I am an American English pronunciation coach.
Welcome to my podcast “The Voice of English”
The purpose of this podcast is to encourage English learners and also English teachers. We all share tips and points of how we can improve our English and become better communicators.
In Episode 7, I invited KY Senpai (KY先輩) from ELENAR ENGLISH
He is an actor, model and senpai!! He is not sensei. He is senpai. Like a mentor who has been through the path you are about to take. He can guide you for sure. He has been teaching the real English to Japanese people from his own experience of learning Japanese in 10 months. He speaks Japanese fluently as a second language so he knows the struggles that Japanese people have when it comes to learning English.
Here are some tips that he shared:
- There are no mistakes. Everything is a learning opportunity.
- Talk in English as much as possible
The video we were talking about regarding “What are you going to do tonight?” is found here
The vowels that he was talking about are:
/eɪ/ – Cake
/æ/ – Hat
/ɑ or ɔ/ – Talk
/ʌ/ – About
/ɪ/ – Salad
These are all spelled as “a” in English. There are so many more vowels in English than in Japanese. This is why he was saying “listening” is very important. Do not let the spelling confuse you!
KY sepnai’s social media links are as follows:
His webinar starts at 7pm PST on Saturday (or 11am on Sunday in Japan Time). Make sure to sign up!! He speaks the truth in this webinar in Japanese.
